Biography
Misbah Gulzar was raised in a fairly strict South Asian Muslim household as one of five siblings in a northern mill town. Uniquely among her siblings, she had the privilege of attending university, which opened her eyes to a wider world beyond her upbringing. After returning home with her qualifications, she reached a crossroads common in many South Asian communities: the question of marriage. Having glimpsed life beyond her hometown, Misbah felt called to explore more of the world and engage with society as a whole, facing the pivotal choice between following tradition or forging her own path.
